Post Office Art

Isn’t this beautiful? It’s a WPA mural at the Valentine USPS station in downtown Loveland. It’s a beautiful depiction of the industry in and around Loveland 70 years ago. The artist didn’t go on to become as famous as others who worked for the WPA project but his work is a great example of Social Realism. The movement in the painting captures the hardworking spirit of the American west. This painting also captures what I love most about my Little Big Town: the subtle mix of art and agriculture.

About Laura

When my nest emptied I moved from the big city to a little big town to tend to a ramshackle yellow house on the edge of town. These are my Yellow House Days.
