Window Shopping

I mentioned the other day I’m on a strict budget and this totally tamps down my style. I was at the mall a couple of weeks ago and gawked at the pretty things I won’t buy. One of my favorite places to “just take a peek” is Victoria’s Secret. I love Victoria’s Secret. Love it. I always have something in my online shopping cart just in case I need one more frilly colorful piece of lingerie. I was worried I might need to start a “Dream Angels” 12-step program but I weaned myself off the push up bras and lace panties without a big book or a meeting.  With a big goal in mind, I’m content with window shopping.

My window-shopping was educational that day. Did you know Victoria Secret has engineers who design their bras? Isn’t that marvelous? I mean is that like a graduate program in the engineering department at large universities? Do you take a “Survey of Lingerie Engineering” at Kansas State University? I should ask my younger son this question, just to embarrass him. He’s been away from home for a year or so and I think that is far to long to go without being embarrassed by his whacky mother. (And I wonder why he chose a college almost 1000 miles from home) Anyhow, the new bra at Vicky’s: is billed as being their latest engineering feat. Lucky engineers. Are they just at the drawing board? Does it entail intense field research? If it does, I know a lot of people who would love this job. It certainly makes the idea of “Engineering” as a career path a lot more interesting. Finally, my most burning question, do they test these bras in the lab for…wait for it…wait for it…

Load bearing?

  1. Too funny! I reaad once about a woman, in France, who designs a bra just for you. She customizes it for your body which seems like a dream for someone like me who has a broad back. We have a gorgeous lingerie shop where I live and I splurged back in the spring…wow…what fun to have really sexy, well-fit bras. Their professional fitter? A guy. He works with a female fitter who comes in the room with you but he’s the one with all the knowledge about shapes and sizes. Saving my pennies for something new!

So at first it was a little icky…a male fitter and then I was thinking how I’ve never had a female gynecologist. LOL I love beautiful underthings. It is a weakness of mine so I avoid fancy lingerie shops because Evan would like his college tuition paid.

  2. Now this is something I’d never considered. wouldn’t it be fun to interview a bra engineer and get the lowdown?

    Hahahah load bearing. That’s awesome.

I love Victoria’s Secret as well..but it’s been years since I’ve shopped there. All my underwear is coming in plastic packages of 6 pairs these days.
